Will Adele perform at the Olympics Closing Ceremony?

Well, if the British weather plays its usual tricks, she’ll certainly set fire to the rain – and to the Olympic Stadium stage! Organizers are strongly hinting that Adele will be among the all-star lineup scheduled to perform at Sunday’s closing ceremony. The theme of the ceremony will be “A Symphony of British Music,” encompassing the nation’s finest musicians and composers from classical to rock and pop. Music director David Arnold told reporters, “We go from – without saying we’ve booked anyone – Elgar to Adele.”
Well, since Sir Edward “Pomp and Circumstance” Elgar has been dead for quite some time, Adele is the more likely choice to take the stage. Officials have been trying to keep the list of performers confidential, but that’s proving harder and harder to do. The Spice Girls were photographed yesterday rehearsing their routine, confirming the rumors that the girl group would be reuniting for the first time in years. But Adele could be the most eagerly anticipated star of all! The multi-Grammy-winning artist has been keeping a very low profile since announcing her pregnancy – so low, in fact, that it came as a shock last month when the news broke that her baby is due next month. All eyes will be on her as style mavens take notes on her maternity wear and gossips wonder whether the excitement of performing at such a huge event will bring on premature labor. But fans will simply be thrilled to see her lending her voice to what should be one of the most memorable closing ceremonies in recent years. Other names being tossed around are Elton John, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Muse, One Direction and a repeat performance fromPaul McCartney.
